Couple accused of stealing DVD player
The wife initially denied being at Walmart, then admitted that she was there and was afraid of police due to a "bad experience" with a prosecutor's office when she lived "up north," police said. Police said the 58-year-old male, who lives on Heritage Hills Drive, was seen pacing back and forth in an aisle at the Walmart at 10400 W. M-59 at around 7 p. m. Monday. Police arrested a Deerfield Township man whom they allege stole a portable DVD player from a Hartland Township store. Police said the man's wife paid for groceries and then met him near the exit doors, where he moved an unpaid portable RCA DVD player from his cart and placed it in her cart. The officer told the woman that he believed she knew about the theft of the DVD player, but he did not arrest her because she was the primary caregiver for her 90-year-old father and 2-year-old granddaughter, whom he did not want to leave alone in...
